Frequently asked questions
Licences, towable weights, roadworthiness tests, warranty and shipping: answers to the questions we get most often.
Licences and weights
Which trailer can I tow with a B licence?
With a B licence you can tow a trailer up to 750 kg gross weight, or a heavier trailer provided the combined weight of vehicle and trailer does not exceed 3,500 kg. With the B96 extension the limit rises to 4,250 kg, with BE to 7,000 kg combined.
How do I know how much my vehicle can tow?
The figure is on the vehicle registration document, under towable weight (braked and unbraked). Bring it to us or send a photo: we check the limits and tell you which trailers are compatible.
Does the trailer need to be registered?
Trailers up to 750 kg carry a repeater plate of the towing vehicle and a certificate of suitability. Above 750 kg they need their own plate, registration document and periodic testing: we handle the paperwork.
Purchase and configuration
Are the prices on the site final?
Trailer prices refer to the base unit, excluding VAT. Using the configurator you add accessories and get a realistic estimate; the final price, including registration and any transport, is in the quote we send you.
How does buying work?
We offer products available for immediate delivery and made to order. Fit-outs and optional extras can be installed by our specialist workshop to shorten delivery times.
Is the product ready to go on the road?
Every product we sell is type-approved. A new unit has to be registered, and registration is an additional cost stated separately.
Spare parts and workshop
How do I know whether a product fits my trailer?
Many products change components across production years. We recommend using the contact form on each product page to ask for a check on the specific part, attaching the vehicle registration document.
Can the Berton workshop fit the part for me?
Of course, our specialist technicians will be happy to fit the new part. Contact us for a quote and to book the service.
Do you carry out trailer roadworthiness tests?
Yes, we handle periodic testing of light and heavy trailers, with a pre-check on brakes, lights and chassis to avoid a failed test.
Orders, shipping and warranty
Do you ship trailers too?
Trailers are not shipped automatically: our team will contact you to arrange the delivery or collection that suits you best.
How long does the warranty last?
Products are covered by the statutory conformity warranty for consumer purchases, plus the manufacturer's commercial warranty stated in the unit's documentation. Certified used units come with a 12-month warranty.
